ELOX is an aluminium oxide coating produced by the standard anodising process.

It protects aluminium component from the effects of weather and provides basic protection against mechanical stress.

Coat thickness and composition
ELOX is suitable for coat thicknesses ranging from 5 to 25 µm, depending on the aluminium alloy used. The recommended coat thickness is 10 µm. Two thirds of it ‘grows’ into the base material, resulting in an application of about 3 µm.

Tolerance range
The tolerance range of an ELOX coat is ± 3 µm depending on the material used and the selected coat thickness.

Intrinsic colour
The ELOX coat is basically transparent, but higher alloyed aluminium produces varying shades of grey.

Dyeing
ELOX can also be dyed black (according to VSA*210 / corresponds approximately to RAL9001).
